Passageways

Every collection brings forth endless possibilities for a fascinating dialogue. M 2012 and the winter collection proven themselves to be more daring and enabling than ever before

When a new collection arrives in stores, two new processes ignite. The first of which is the collection’s adolescence. The garments go out to the world, to you, meet you for the first time; making contact and receives opinions and reactions. The second process involves a departure from the current collection – starting to work on the next collection; finding the right inspiration and the opening point for the next journey.

This time, as the new collection reached the stores, I met with reporters in the new store on Rothschild Ave.; in a series of personal encounters which allowed me to gain a refreshing perspective on the garments and the new location alike. I discovered a challenging journalistic approach, which accepts and praises a creation which emphasizes experimentation.

I was excited to discover that the conceptual process which stands at the heart of the collection was understood thoroughly. After all, it’s not obvious that for a leading newspaper to present an avant-garde grey felt coat, for websites to advocate the choice to work with Kin Iglinsky and to try and identify my voice as a designer. I am more than happy about the possibility to experience these moments and initiate a dialogue in relation to the garments.

The encounters in the stores, of course, do not stop with reporters. Every day, more and more women stop by; to take a closer look at the M 2012 collection and to see how they interact with the full collection. They are joined with an increasing number of young women who wants to take part in that experience. I meet them in the stores, assist them to make their way between the garments and happily see how their presence strengthens as soon as they stand in front of the mirror.

Now the journey for the next collection begins. During the last seasons, this rod has taken me to more profound experiments, more mature, which deepen in fascinating directions. I try and see how my handwriting formulates a statement which is both contemporary and emphasizes presence; which encompasses inspirations and the journeys I undergo everyday – with you, in the stores, around the world or in my personal life.

Every collection creates different questions and every collection which follows tries to deal with these questions whilst suggesting a possibility for further investigation. This continuity becomes more and more crucial in the process. Now, another excitement begins. Now it becomes even harder to wait and see what the future will bring.
